Superintendent’s Message
July 2020

足球滚球比分 A few months back, we had no idea the impact COVID-19 would have on our day-to-day lives.  We didn’t know the extent of the burdens that our families would face, and we could not have predicted the toll it would take on our staff, as they transitioned their classrooms and workspaces in a matter of days. Our entire school community of teachers, parents, staff, and of course, students, should be commended for their flexibility and understanding that much of what is happening is out of our immediate control.

Today, we have some families grappling with their decision to either send their children back to school or continue with distance learning in August. I believe every family has to do what is best for them and their situations, but I wanted to let you know what I believe to be true.

足球滚球比分 There is no other system that exists in California like public education. It’s the only system designed to serve and elevate every child. Here at RCSD, we welcome every single family with open arms and a genuine desire to bring our very best to our students each day. As we look toward the 2020-2021 school year, we want our families and students to feel as safe as possible. Whether you choose to enroll in the Champions Academy online learning program, the hybrid learning model, or the more traditional five days per week of school, RCSD is committed to bringing the very best educational experiences to your child. That is our promise.

足球滚球比分 Our public school system has 15 years from the time students are in preschool to the day they graduate high school. Our goal is to ensure they return to you day after day a little smarter, a little stronger, and a little more equipped to navigate their future in college, career, and life. Despite the challenges we face, together, we can make your child’s educational experience an exceptional one.

Respectfully,

足球滚球比分 Derk Garcia

Superintendent’s Message
June 2020

As I write this article with two weeks left in the school year, we are living in a time that will look much different from when you’re reading it. What will school look like next year, based on future guidelines from the State of California? Are we moving closer to transitioning into Phase 3? What does our District budget look like in the year ahead? Have our children gone stir crazy-(er)? Our District doesn’t pretend to have all the answers, but here’s what we do know:

May 2020 Teacher Appreciation Month

One of the more uplifting messages I’ve been hearing lately is about silver linings. For many, if not most of us, the past couple of months have been the strangest experiences of our lives. At the District, we’re implementing systems and routines, and one thing is for certain – our staff has the mindset that shows we are ready to meet this “new abnormal” straight on!

To our community, families, students, and staff, as I write this article in the middle of March, our schools are closed through April 13, 2020, in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. We are all living with uncertainty, and because of that, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. We will continue to convey important information on our website, so make sure to bookmark bellonicucine.com for the most up-to-date information.

Like a well-oiled machine, it takes many moving parts to make a school district effective and successful. A vital component of the Roseville City School District machine are our programs and distinctions. These factors elevate the education and curriculum we offer at our 19 RCSD schools by providing the tools that serve the whole child.

足球滚球比分 It’s no secret that the month of February is associated with L-O-V-E.  Below are five things I love about our community of schools:

Our education foundation – I might not love running, but I do love the Roseville City School District Foundation’s annual Run4Roseville Schools fundraiser. A New Year and a New Decade is on the Way!

And just like that, we find ourselves at the close of the decade. With 2020 on the horizon, you’d think I’d become nostalgic over the last ten years. You’re not wrong – in fact, I’ve become nostalgic over the last 150 years as we celebrate the District’s sesquicentennial all year long. However, the future looks so bright that I can’t help but keep looking forward to the goals, milestones, and growth at our fingertips.

Growing our Minds…But How?

足球滚球比分 Education is what I am immersed in every day. Each day, I work with educators who are determined to help students reach their potential. We read the data, analyze results and grow from what we learn. What if I told you there is a mindset we can each adopt that helps every single one of us, as parents, community members, and #RCSDChampions?

Back to School!

August is when we all head back to school and begin reminiscing about what did over the several weeks of summer break. I’d like to share what our District did over the summer!

Perhaps most noteworthy, we began summer by breaking ground on our 20th school, Riego Creek, located near Crawford Parkway and Fiddyment Road. We were joined by our board of education trustees, District staff, city council members and our construction team, all of whom took part in shoveling the first mounds of dirt!

Summer fever has hit our house and between movie nights, blasting music and video game tournaments, it can be challenging to really connect (and disconnect!) with my boys. I hear parents lament about this frequently: How do you get your kids to unplug from their devices and focus on the human interaction that helps develop their social skills, emotional intelligence, and kindness? Well, I have a few tricks my up sleeve!

足球滚球比分 Ah, summer’s in the air and our students are enjoying time off from school with their families. While our #RCSDChampions are spending the summer recuperating from another school year on their educational journey, the Roseville City School District keeps hustlin’ and bustlin’!

Time to Wrap it Up!

The end of each school year traditionally is a time to reflect over the many goals and milestones we accomplished this year. We usually scratch our heads and think—”Where did the year go!?” While we take a look back, we are also looking forward to new opportunities and ways to grow that will allow us to prepare our students to succeed. I’d like to share with you why I believe why this school year shaped up to be one of the most productive and memorable for me as your superintendent.

It’s one thing to talk the talk, but it’s a whole ‘nother ball game to walk the walk. So, when Roseville City School District says that we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence in education, we work to put those words into action. Our ultimate goal is to maximize learning for each and every one of our students.  Additionally, we strive for all of our children to be proficient in Common Core State Standards and to progress towards college and career readiness.

Each year, many of us create lists: things we’d like to change, improve or focus on in our lives.

But what about creating a list that takes stock of what we love about our lives and communities? Things that make us who and what we are. This year, I’d like to list a few things I appreciate most about Roseville City School District:

January, 2019

足球滚球比分 A new year signifies a blank slate and an opportunity to start fresh with goals. While most feel a renewed sense of purpose with a new calendar year, those of us in education acknowledge our year really starts with the school year. January is the time when both of those calendars come together. As we welcome 2019, our district is already preparing for the 2019 – 2020 school year. Yes, that’s right! It’s time to enroll new, returning and transferring students.
